[GOD OKAY FINALLY someone who's being reasonable. Even if he's still in crap he's got a way to swim out of it.]
FROM: parker.peter@cdc.org
My first thought was Jack but he probably wants to deck me right now so he's out.
I don't know who's all on Red but the people I do know beyond "Hello" and aren't tools are:
FROM: parker.peter@cdc.org
You, Marco Bott, Mikasa Ackerman, and Erwin Smith. Most people I met on Selena haven't showed. There's a couple others from yesterday that seem fine but again, are barely even acquaintances.
FROM: parker.peter@cdc.org
If none of the above agreed I was gonna scroll through files for other people I've met and see who seemed trustworthy, or failing that just ask on Kakashi's post. I'll take suggestions if you have any.
You're not wrong about that, but it seemed he was also under the impression that you were planning on going in there alone.
FROM: jacobs.shinobu@cdc.org
Working alone might seem like the easy way, sometimes, but we plan and move as a group. Trying to be a big damned hero only makes things needlessly complicated.
FROM: jacobs.shinobu@cdc.org
That's why he got mad and I don't blame him.
FROM: jacobs.shinobu@cdc.org
Ackerman's good, especially for a Green. I know her pretty well. However, I think Green's busy being on patrol, so don't count on her having much free time.
FROM: jacobs.shinobu@cdc.org
For now, though, we cannot afford to make any rash movements. Whatever's crawling around here can camouflage itself, so you need to be cautious.
FROM: jacobs.shinobu@cdc.org
I wouldn't be at my best, in a vent, so I'd highly suggest asking if any other Reds would be up to the task.
[delicately ignores all the valid points she makes about jack lalala maturity.]
FROM: parker.peter@cdc.org
Mikasa's great! Pretty quiet but she knows what she's doing. Marco and Erwin both have military training of some kind but otherwise seem like plain humans.
FROM: parker.peter@cdc.org
It wouldn't have to be that way even. One alternative I was thinking of was having the second person stay outside and track the one in the vent.
FROM: parker.peter@cdc.org
It would be great if it was someone who could get through the walls and save the other person if something goes awry. I might be able to do that but depending on what the
FROM: parker.peter@cdc.org
super power pool is here there might be a person who could do that with more finesse. Also so we don't wind up with people getting stuck against each other if they run into the thing.
FROM: parker.peter@cdc.org
I just don't think navigating the vents with two people is gonna fly. Too cramped and whoever's inside needs as much mobility as they can get.
I'd say she's more efficient and capable than a lot of the adults here. I've worked with her before and would gladly do it again.
[Not to mention she's like... one of three people she'd consider a friend here.]
FROM: jacobs.shinobu@cdc.org
That could work, but I'd suggest at least two people on the ground, so that they can look out for each other. If one gets taken out, while you're in the vents, that takes out your support.
FROM: jacobs.shinobu@cdc.org
If a bigger group can be formulated, on the ground, that'd be even more optimal. But everyone is stretched a little thin right now.
Yeah she was in the middle of a fight when I met her, and she clearly knows her stuff. My condolences about the adults though.
FROM: parker.peter@cdc.org
Good idea. And yeah I wouldn't want to draw too many people away for an effort that may or may not yield anything at all. It can just be a quick check for signs of use, like tracks or scratch marks from claws, etc.
FROM: parker.peter@cdc.org
Depends on how big they are. But I'm a pretty small person, and I have the ability to cling to surfaces so it won't matter if it's hard to get traction or if the vents take weird twists or turns.
FROM: parker.peter@cdc.org
And if there is trouble and I'm not confident I can handle it I could theoretically slow it down or trap it in place while I bail: it doesn't say in my file but I have 'webshooters'
FROM: parker.peter@cdc.org
Basically an elastic polymer formula that is shot out of a pressurized canister from my wrists. It could gob up the vents and stick the thing in place if it comes up on me unexpectedly, or blind it. It's got a lot of uses.
FROM: parker.peter@cdc.org
And like I told Jack, I have a precognitive sense for incoming danger. Not always 100% reliable but it's better than getting ambushed. Heightened reflexes and strength too, and I can take a pretty good whooping before I'm KOed
FROM: parker.peter@cdc.org
Seriously though if there is a better candidate, let me know and I'll lay off. I didn't mean for this to explode into a whole thing. Sorry for causing such a hairball.
As long as you can make it quick, it should be okay. Until you're assigned a unit, all of us leads will be held responsible for any Reds that wind up dead, so think about that.
[Or at least she's assuming. Knowing that Dagger took the well-being of his team seriously, Shinobu was determined to do what she could to keep the team running as efficiently as possible.]
FROM: jacobs.shinobu@cdc.org
Neheda is another name for the one people call Mothership. She's the pilot of the ship and is responsible for a lot of the medical stuff.
FROM: jacobs.shinobu@cdc.org
She also goes by Neheda, though, so I use that because it's less awkward than calling her Mother.

ugh nevermind Where was this order? All I saw was Kakashi's post
FROM: parker.peter@cdc.org
And again, I posted there publicly about checking. No one yelled at me there, so why am I getting yelled at now?
no subject
I don't know why Hatake didn't find it necessary to include that in his post, honestly. But it was directly ordered by a superior.
FROM: jacobs.shinobu@cdc.org
From what I read before, I got the impression that you were going alone. And right now? That's a stupid idea.
FROM: jacobs.shinobu@cdc.org
But the question is, do you actually have a plan of who you're bringing as back-up?

All right. The rest of the unit leads would probably want one of us present, so I guess I could go.
FROM: jacobs.shinobu@cdc.org
Webshooters is something I haven't even heard of, but hey, I guess I've seen weirder attacks.
FROM: jacobs.shinobu@cdc.org
I think we've got this straightened out more, so I guess I won't have to send you to Neheda after all.
FROM: jacobs.shinobu@cdc.org
But really, now that you know, don't do anything without contacting a lead. Okay?
Should I go ahead and toss up that mini-log now?
I promise it'll be quick. I'll check for signs of use or any clues about what it may be and that's it. I'll jet right out. Pinky swear.
FROM: parker.peter@cdc.org
And yes okay. It's not happening again. Also isn't Nehada the name of the ship? Am I missing something?

I get it, I do. No dead Reds on your watch. Will do my best to keep breathing that sweet O2. And good to know re: Mom/Nehada.

I'm in Room 1. Meet you in the hall outside?
